“Fill the Plate” Raises More than $104,500 to Help Feed the Elderly.
Thanks to the help and generosity of the eastern Iowa public, The Heritage Area Agency on Aging, along with corporate sponsors, were able to raise enough money to distribute more than 20,900 additional nutritious meals to those seniors most frail and at-risk in the region.
Federal Trade Commission Issues Report – Iowans Rely on the “Do Not Call Registry”
In a recent report issued by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Iowa ranked high in the percentage of residents who take advantage of the Do Not Call Registry. Iowa was 12th in the nation with 78% of personal phone numbers registered!

The Heritage Area Agency on Aging is excited to announce the return of the Fill the Plate telethon to bring greater support and awareness for the Senior Nutrition Home Delivered and Congregate Meal Program. The Fill the Plate telethon will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013 on the KCRG network of television stations. This effort was a great success in 2012, reaching over 75,000 viewers and generating over $140,000 to help provide nutritious meals to older adults throughout East Central Iowa.
